Get Up
As a little girl I remember having to learn and recite the poem Still I Rise by Maya Angelou. I didn’t really understand the meaning of that poem until now, during this chapter of my life. I remember my mother making me start over every single time I messed up. She made me say it proud, she made me recite the poem like I actually knew what I was saying.
However, today I’m appreciative for it. This season of my life, I’ve been knocked down so many times but every single time I rise up.
Whatever is coming your way can’t hold you down unless you allow it. Be strong! Be ready for battle.
I’ve learned that by my mother making me recite that poem a million times “seriously” made me have confidence in myself. It forced me to see the potential I had in myself. No matter what anyone says or whatever the attack is, I can bounce back! I can get up.
I will get up every single time.
In the words of Maya Angelou, Still I Rise!
We all fall down; we all fall short…. Just don’t stay there.
